Six children will receive a prize for their participation in the game on superbricoleur.com at a Mr.Bricolage store. This operation was organised in the context of the campaign to promote safety in DIY stores.
50 children were selected by a bailiff from the many children having entered the game on the superbricoleur.com site. 6 of these winners have opted to collect their prize from their Mr.Bricolage store. These lucky winners will shortly receive a wooden tool kit (see photo) in the stores in Cosne sur Loire (58), Gentilly (94), Lillers (62), Montereau (77), Nort sur Erdre (44) and Rochefort (17).
This operation has been organised by the French Federation of DIY and home furnishing stores (FMB) since 2003. The federation has created the superbricoleur.com site for children (games, cartoons, colouring pages, information for parents) for the 3rd year. The safety campaigns organised by DIY stores targeting customers are proving successful. Since 2006, the number of accidents recorded in DIY stores has dropped by 40%.

Mr.Bricolage has recently published a corporate book to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The group tells the tale of the first grouping of independent DIY stores in France. A human tale.
It all started with a hardware merchant coming from Orléans, Bernard Ivernel, in the mid-1950s. He heard tell of a new form of distribution gaining ground in the United States, known as, “Do it yourself”. He received increasingly urgent demands from his customers looking to find articles to fit out, maintain and decorate their homes, all under the same roof. Bernard Ivernel decided to use the American approach in France. Assuming others would have the same idea; he sought out and met up with other traders applying the same policy. Bernard Ivernel was a visionary and a leader and brought together the 12 pioneers within a club for sharing and discussion. L’Association Nationale pour la Promotion du Faites le vous-même (ANPF – The National association of DIY promoters) was officially founded in 1965. The association rapidly integrated many independent traders. A few years later, they decided to take things a step further and created the Mr.Bricolage store name.
A book on the history of a company

Inner double page of the book in the early 1980s
This book tells this human tale. The book is presented in landscape format with a sleeve. The book is filled with images and articles by eye-witnesses, plus a chronological strip highlighting the major events of each era (politics, society, inventions, culture, music, cinema, sport, etc.). The layout accords priority to images, backed up with dynamic and eye-catching graphics. More information on the history of the Mr.Bricolage group..

A new Mr.Bricolage store opened in Mayenne (30 km to the north of Laval) on 1 July 2010. This sales outlet is owned directly by Mr.Bricolage. The store was previously operated under the Les Briconautes name, the second store name used by the Group.
The store can boast an indoor area of 2,960 m² dedicated to DIY and an outdoor area of 500 m² dedicated to garden furnishing. The inside of the store was entirely re-organised in two months thanks to the cooperation of all store personnel. The project also involved many colleagues from stores in nearby regions. Teams were able to share their expertise and experience.
The team of 16 working in the sales outlet welcomed their first customers with applause (see photo). Saturday 10 July, the opening was led by Jean-Pierre Descombes, star games presenter on the France 3 TV channel for many years.

The international expansion of Mr.Bricolage continues with the opening of a second store in the Serbian town of Novi Sad.
The Mr.Bricolage group has recently opened its second store in Novi Sad, in the north of Serbia, via its Bulgarian partner, Doverie Brico. This is the second largest town in the country after Belgrade. Novi Sad is a leading economic and financial hub with an urban area home to more than 3,000,000 inhabitants. It is also the historical capital of the Serbian culture.
The Mr.Bricolage group is one of the first to open a store in this country. The Mr.Bricolage store is located in a shopping centre in the town centre. The store has a surface area of 2,400 m² led by a team of 35. Its product range includes over 20,000 articles for the home and garden, broken down by sector. Many services are offered, such as wood cutting, customised paint colours, key copying and delivery.
The store was officially opened in the presence of Jean-François Boucher, Chairman of the Mr.Bricolage group. The French ambassador in Serbia, Jean-François Terral, was present at this opening (read the article on the web site of the French embassy in Serbia). Jean-François Boucher took advantage of his trip to the country to visit the first store which opened last December in the town of Nis, to the south east of Serbia.

Mr.Bricolage has extended its sales space with the extension of one store and 4 new sales outlets. The five operations represent total additional sales space exceeding 6,200 m² for the store.
The store in Brives Charensac, located in the suburb of Puy en Velay (43), has recently extended its sales space. The store moved just a few metres down the road on this occasion. Indoor surface area increased from 2,800 m² to more than 4,500 m². Outdoor surface area was extended from 200 to more than 1,200 m². This extension provides more room for product display. New products mainly focus on furnishing (cupboards, bathroom fittings, etc.) and decorations, two very popular segments.
The store has adopted an unusual black façade (see photo above). This colour was selected to discretely fit into the protected site (see the web site of the Tourist Office of Puy en Velay), near to the Saint–Michel d’Aiguilhe chapel and Puy en Velay cathedral (UNESCO world heritage). An area of 35 hectares around the “haute ville” is classified as protected.
4 stores change name
The Mr.Bricolage group has recently gained ground with the integration of four new stores: Dinard (22), Nangis (77), Villers Cotterets (02) et Quillan (11). While the first three stores were originally part of the group (2 Catena and one Briconautes stores), the third was acquired from a rival store (Weldom).
