Mr Bricolage actively involved in disability week 2011[/lang-en] - 14/11/2011

Mr Bricolage actively promotes the employment of disabled employees. The group will be participating in disabled week from 14 to 20 November 2011.

The group will attend the events dedicated to the employment of disabled workers on 16 November:

The accounting services of the head office recently hosted a disabled person. This one-day operation was organised in the context of the Project supporting Agefiph. The aim for the disabled person is to discover a trade and a company and to boost a career plan. For the company, this operation promotes its sectors, ensures the consideration of diversity in human resource management, ensures that personnel are aware of the difficulties faced by the disabled, and finally, helps to change attitudes towards the disabled.

Mr.Bricolage participated at a fair for the employment of the disabled with Jobekia - 24/06/2011

Mr.Bricolage participated at a fair to promote jobs for the disabled with Jobekia at Tours on 23 June 2011.

This event was based on the new job fair concept of Jobekia: “Les Recrut’Heures”. This formula involves the organisation of job fora on a local-scale, in various French towns.

The Mr.Bricolage group signed an agreement with Agefiph at the start of the year. The group is reinforcing its initiatives to encourage the employment of the disabled in the various structures. The Mr.Bricolage group was recently elected employer of the year by the readers of the Rebondir magazine. Mr.Bricolage is currently recruiting to meet its requirements:

  • In stores in France: vendors, check-out operators, receiving staff, department managers and directors;
  • At the head office in Orléans (45): hotline operators, accountants, database managers, buyers and controllers.

Mr Bricolage signs an agreement with Agefiph - 21/01/2011

The Mr Bricolage group has committed to signing a national agreement with AGEFIPH (Association nationale pour la Gestion du Fonds d’Insertion Professionnelle des Handicapés – National association for the handling of the professional integration fund for the disabled). An official meeting was held on 20 January at the head office of the group at La Chapelle Saint Mesmin.

For many years now, the Mr Bricolage group has been committed to the promotion of the integration of the disabled. Based on this experience, the group decided to reinforce its employment policy for disabled workers by integrating this policy in its management of human resources. The group aims to demonstrate that companies can reconcile employment and disability. The agreement concerns all integrated stores, warehouses and the Mr Bricolagehead office.

After a diagnostic financed by AGEFIPH, the Agreement will focus on 4 main lines of development:

- Communication and training

- Recruitment and integration

- Long-lasting employment

- Sub-contracting with the protected and adapted sector

The Mr Bricolage group took advantage of communication on this agreement to invite many guests (Pôle Emploi, Cap Emploi, etc.). Within the Loiret administrative département, Mr Bricolage is the second company, after Parfums Christian Dior, to sign an agreement with AGEFIPH.

Try my handicap! - 03/12/2010

Céline, an employee at the Mr Bricolage head office

Mr Bricolage participated in the “Try my handicap” operation organised by the “Club Emploi et Handicap” (Employment and disability club). This event was organised from 16 to 22 November 2010 in the context of the national week for the promotion of the disabled.

Personnel from companies, members of the Club, visited the ESAT (Employment-based Assistance Service and Site) in the Couronnerie at Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin (southern suburb of Orléans). This operation allowed personnel to find out how the ESAT works. The site visit mainly allowed Mr Bricolage personnel to meet with ESAT site personnel. Disabled workers explained their jobs. Each visitor was able to put themselves in the position of a disabled person and execute their tasks. Beyond life at work, other types of role play were used to try day-to-day acts such as cooking from a wheel chair, or changing a baby’s nappy with a visual handicap.

Sabrina was among the Mr Bricolage employees present and found the visit worthwhile. “Site employees were delighted to show us what they could do and explain their jobs”. She added that the “try my handicap” experience in a wheel chair or with black glasses to simulate blindness, made her realise the daily difficulties faced by the disabled.

The Mr Bricolage group reconciles employment and disability - 27/10/2010

The Mr Bricolage group proves that disabled workers have their role to play in the company.

The Group encourages the employment of the disabled in the context of its policy to promote diversity. Mr Bricolage is a member of the “Club Emploi et Handicap” (Employment and disability club). This association aims to help the disabled find work and participate in the economy.

The company intends to extend its initiatives in favour of employing the disabled. The Group will sign an agreement with the Agefiph of the Loiret département in the near future.

To give just one example of Group practices, the store in Mozac (17 km to the north of Clermont-Ferrand) won the “Handicap et entreprise” (Handicaps and companies) trophy in 2009. This trophy is awarded by Medef Auvergne for initiatives helping to maintain the employment of a disabled worker. The winning initiative was the idea of Philippe Villatte, Store Director. Mr Villatte attempted to find a solution to maintain the employment of a member of personnel. He contacted the Agefiph (see below). The organism responsible for promoting the employment of the disabled provided its support for the project and assisted in execution.

About the Agefiph

The Agefiph is a private association working to assist the disabled and private companies. The association also works for the state via an agreement signed with Government services. The Agefiph has four main targets:

- Improve access to employment for disabled workers,
- Assist companies to recruit and retain their disabled employees,
- Improve awareness of the active disabled population.
