The Chief Executive Officer of Mr Bricolage on France Bleu Orléans - 08/11/2011

Jean-François Boucher, Chief Executive Officer of the Mr Bricolage group, was interviewed on the France Bleu Orléans radio station.

The interview was broadcast on Monday 7 November 2011. During this interview, Jean-François Boucher described group news.

He reiterated the current local strategy for Mr Bricolage stores. This strategy aims to bring group stores closer to customer expectations. In this respect, he announced the group’s aim to create stores in town centres. Inhabitants appreciate central DIY stores, while these stores have progressively moved away from town centres. Jean-François Boucher particularly referred to the plans to install a Mr Bricolage store in the centre of Orléans. This option depends on current negotiations with the owner of the property.

He also referred to the development of services, such as home fittings. The journalist asked Jean-François Boucher to comment on the ‘in the increase in V.A.T. V.A.T. has recently been increased from 5.5 to 7% by the government. According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Mr Bricolage group, this difference is not significant enough to modify the decision to go for “DIY” rather than paying full labour costs for an installation.

Finally, Jean-François Boucher mentioned product pricing. He indicated that the Mr Bricolage group offered bottom-of-the-range products, with no massive use of imports. Mr Bricolage has created partnerships with French industry over the years. The store aims to defend industrial know-how and the quality of French products.

A Mr.Bricolage store with a surface area of 800 m² will open today at 14:00 at Cachan (Val de Marne), just a few minutes to the south of the Paris ring road. This new sales outlet has set up shop at the foot of a new building in the town centre, just a stone’s throw from the townhall. The address is 29-31 avenue Louis Georgeon, in a very busy district, just over a free municipal underground car park. The presence of an adjacent food store and extensive window display area are all key advantages and will ensure the appeal of the store.(.

Despite the small surface area, the layout of the store has been carefully designed to maximise space and ensure good product visibility. The main departments are organised into islands. This layout allows all products to be visible and customers can find the products they require rapidly. This is indeed the main objective of a local store. The store also offers a project range with a focus on decorative items, which are visible from the moment customers enter the store. All departments are present, with an urban gardening department in particular, and even a cupboard fittings range.

Services are also on the agenda, starting with advice, the store’s focal point, provided by the seven members of personnel of the sales outlet. The store has a wood and glass cutting service and can hire out specialised tools (drills, punches, wall paper strippers, hedge trimmers, etc.) providing key services to town inhabitants. Finally, a home delivery service is also available.

Ever true to its strategy to promote local services, the Mr.Bricolage group will continue to ensure its presence in town centres. This meets consumer expectations. Consumers expect to find stores near to their homes, with key products for servicing, repairs, DIY and home decoration.
